This section is for Type 1 (Vintage) deck construction, feedback, discussion and advice. We generally disallow Vintage at the multigroup games unless stated before the match starts, but smaller games where everyone agrees beforehand, 2 player matches and so on are still fine for Vintage play.

Question:

What decides Vintage or Legacy?

I never understood the difference.

a banned restricted list. in type 1 the only banned cards are silverbordered, anti cards and cards requireing dexterity. it DOES have restrictions ie only 1 in your deck allowed

t1.5 = lots of bannings 0 restrictions very slow format (compaired to T1) good for people who want to play old cards but don't want to put out 10k + for a deck

Also card flipping like Chaos Orb is banned in Vintage too.

Essentially, Legacy has a large ban list. Vintage has a tiny ban list for cards that don't work (like Patrick said, Ante cards as an example), but a large restricted list. Vintage was designed to allow every card within reason to be used within a tournament setting, where Legacy is the non-broken version of allowing every set in one format.

Yeah, that's the stuff that's banned in all formats though. The big difference still remains that the power 9's legal in vintage (albeit restricted), which is what breaks the format.
