Help understanding EDH

I am very interested in building an EDH deck but was wondering if someone could run me through what can and what can't be in there. Can Standard cards be in an EDH Deck?

In Elder Dragon Highlander,
nearly every card is legal.

That thread there almost always contains updates on bans (hard and soft) and the current watch list (cards that MAY be banned in the future).

You need to choose a legend and your deck can only contain cards of that legend's colours (including symbols anywhere on the card).
